10 Days Leisure &Coffee Tour to Southern-Western Ethiopia

In the early morning, meet up at convenient point in Addis Ababa and depart to Wanchi Crater Lake via the town of Ambo town (144 km asphalt road), situated in the western side of the capital. Up on arrival at Wanchi, begin your hiking or horseback riding on the hillside of the crater through the natural forest with a beautiful scenery. Inside the forest, you will observe different tree species, alpine vegetation, aquatic and terrestrial bird species, and mammals. Then, descend down to the natural hot-spring. Soak in the natural mud-pool and take bath in hot-spring for a relaxation and rejuvenation. Picnic lunch (goat steak bites, rice with cooked vegetable, and fruits) will be served at the green fields near to the hot-spring. Afternoon, continue hiking or horseback riding to the villages through the beautiful grassland water streams. You will have a short break to visit one of households in on of the villages to observe their daily lifestyle. Continue hiking to the shore of the lake and take in views of the lake shore from a peaceful dock. Then, our boat will pick you up to cross the lake. On the way, if time allows, stop over at the island of the lake and visit the monastery of Cherkos. Then drive to Weliso. Overnight in Negash Lodge.

Morning, drive to Jimma, the commercial centre for the coffee produced in this region. In the afternoon, visit King Abba Jiffar Palace and Jimma Museum. Overnight in hotel

Breakfast. Drive to and visit Limu Kossa Coffee Plantation site. (105 Km from Jimma), the birth place of coffee. Visit rural villages of Kaffa people. Overnight stay in hotel/guest house

After breakfast, drive to Kaffa Biosphere Reserve, registered as UNESCO biosphere reserve, Impressive natural scenery, spectacular wildlife and intact evergreen forest, the only place in the world where wild coffee (Coffea arabica) grows in abundance. Full day hiking inside the reserve with picnic lunch. Overnight in hotel/guest house

In the morning, drive to Bebeka Coffee Plantation (146 km). Visit the largest Coffee Plantation in Ethiopia (covers some 6,000 hectares and is the largest and oldest Coffee Plantation in Ethiopia). Drive to Mizan Teferi. Overnight in hotel/guest house

In the morning, drive to Tepi to visit Tepi Coffee Plantation. Then, drive back to Mizan Teferi. On the way visit Bench Maji Forest Coffee Union Pulp. Overnight in hotel/guest house

After breakfast, journey to the splendid Chebera Churchura Park. Chebera Churchura park is a home to 37 species of larger mammals; elephants, buffaloes, greater kudus, waterbucks, lions, leopard, serval cats, hippos and warthogs; over 140 species of birds of which 5 are endemic; numerous rivers and streams (Zigina River and Shoshuma River are among the major rivers of the park); crater lakes Shasho, Keriballa and Koka; two beautiful hot and cold springs; The Meka forest is the perfect place for all that want to see the African elephants. The park has four major vegetation zones, grasslands, woodlands, mountain forests and riverine forests. The altitude of the park ranges from 550-1700 m.a.s.l. The park receives high average annual rainfall (1000 to 3500 mm).  Discover the park around the camping area. Overnight in Halala Kela Resort.

On this day, explore the Chebera Churchura National Park; hiking through the trails that would take you to the riversides, springs, craters and Maka forest. Overnight in Halala Kela Resort.

In the morning, leisure time at your resort. In the afternoon, flight back to Addis Ababa.  Late afternoon, leisure time, coffee testing in local cafeterias. In the evening, farewell traditional dinner in one of the best restaurants in Addis followed by folkloric dance of different Ethiopian nations. Then transfer to your destination. End of the trip.
